It’s a wonderful feeling to be a duck farmer. These birds live longer and develop at a quicker rate then chicken. Their homes are less expensive to build, require less management and could withstand almost any type of temperatures. They are highly tolerant to a lot of diseases and eat different sorts of food in comparison to chickens.
You can raise them as domestic pets, for eggs and even for meat. A number of livestock farmers keep them for food reason being they can eat the eggs and meat as well as sell the produce to make revenue. These birds lay their eggs in the morning which means you can just accumulate the eggs once a day.
When beginning raising ducks you first must be well prepared and make sure your time is suitable. 1st prepare space where you are going to raise the ducks. Once you have the location then you should build a shelter (house) for your ducks to rest and call home. Its also wise to try to build an artificial pond which is often next to the house.
After you have done this it is time to get your birds but before you do that you must be certain on the number of ducks you want. Do not get a lot of ducks that can get crowded in the space you have for them. Also select the right type of breed you want to raise. They are a number of breeds to choose from which are Rouen, Mandarin, Muscovy not forgetting Perkin ducks.
Once you have made the decision on the number of birds and breed you desire, the next step is getting together food for them. These birds like eating worms, fish, aquatic plants, bugs, toads and even mollusks. You can even feed them crumbs and lawn grass. This type of food should only be given to fully grown ducks. Ducklings consume a different kind of feed, they eat starter breadcrumbs and mash when a few days old. When they grow older you may then give them bread and crackers.
To be a successful duck farmer needs dedication and the desire to raise ducks. The great thing on raising ducks is that anyone will go through successfully, just do your research right and get the expert guidelines.
